Zwiebelmuster

A decor rich in tradition

Without a doubt, the onion pattern is one of the most famous porcelain decorations in the world. Its history dates back to the era of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Due to the China fashion of the late Baroque period, the traditional motifs were rediscovered in Europe and the present onion pattern was created around 1739.

However, the white porcelain with cobalt blue underglaze painting does not show onions, but pomegranates, peaches, peonies and an aster-bamboo bouquet.

The Hutschenreuther onion pattern has been around since 1930 and remains popular and in demand as the quintessential symbol of stylish and refined table culture.
